Overview of the Role
This is a high-profile Senior National Account Manager role with full responsibility for a key premium UK grocery retailer. The role combines strategic ownership with hands-on delivery, requiring a commercially driven individual who can lead customer relationships, shape long-term plans and deliver against ambitious growth targets.
You will own the Joint Business Plan, lead all commercial negotiations and work cross-functionally to deliver best-in-class execution across both branded and Own Label portfolios. The role includes line management responsibility and offers strong visibility within a fast-paced, high-performing commercial team.
Responsibilities:
Account Leadership & Strategy
- Own and deliver the commercial strategy for a key premium retail account, achieving sales, profit and market share targets.
- Develop and execute robust Joint Business Plans aligned to both customer and internal objectives.
- Build strong, senior-level relationships across Buying, Category and Supply Chain functions.
- Position the business as a trusted, insight-led partner to the customer.
Commercial Delivery
- Lead annual trading negotiations including pricing, promotional strategy and terms agreements.
- Manage full P&L responsibility including forecasting, budgeting and trade investment.
- Identify and unlock growth opportunities across both branded and Own Label ranges.
- Drive distribution, visibility and execution excellence in line with customer strategy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing, Category, Supply Chain and Finance teams to deliver customer plans.
- Ensure alignment between brand strategy and in-store / online execution.
- Lead internal stakeholders to deliver against customer requirements and timelines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating at National Account Manager / Senior National Account Manager level within UK grocery.
- Experience managing a premium or Top 6 grocery retailer highly desirable.
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable P&L ownership.
- Proven track record of leading successful customer negotiations and delivering growth.
- Experience across both branded and Own Label advantageous.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into actionable insight.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree educated or equivalent commercial experience.
