Grounds Maintenance Operative - York (Temporary)£17 per hour | 24 hours per week | 6:00am - 3:30pm | Start ASAPWe are recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join a respected contractor delivering services for local authorities, universities, and housing associations across York.

This is a temporary position, available for an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities

• Operating ride-on mowers
• Using strimmers, hedge cutters, and other grounds maintenance tools
• General horticultural tasks and outdoor maintenance
• Supporting a small, friendly team to maintain high-quality outdoor spaces

Requirements

• Basic DBS check - provided by Hays
• Experience in grounds maintenance
• Competent with mowers, strimmers, and hedge-cutting equipment
• Horticulture qualifications desired (but not essential)
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather
• Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently
• Flexibility on working days (24 hours per week)

Shift Pattern

• 6:00am - 3:30pm
• 24 hours per week (Mon-Fri, flexible days)

Pay & Start

• £17 per hour
• Immediate start available
