Role & ResponsibilitiesAs a Principal Temporary Works Design Engineer, you will take technical and commercial responsibility for the delivery of complex temporary works designs across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Leading the technical delivery of temporary works design packages from concept through to construction

Acting as Design Lead on major or high-risk schemes

Providing technical assurance, checking and approval of design outputs

Managing and developing a team of engineers, including mentoring and supporting Chartership progression

Building and maintaining strong client and internal stakeholder relationships

Contributing to bid support and pre‐construction activities

Driving innovation, buildability and best practice within the design team

Supporting the strategic growth and development of the in‐house design capability

Experience within permanent works design will also be considered, particularly where combined with leadership and multidisciplinary coordination.

Requirements

BEng / MSc (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering

Chartered (ICE or IStructE) or near chartered

Significant industry experience in temporary works design

Proven experience leading projects and mentoring engineers

Strong commercial awareness and client‐facing capability

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Ambitious, forward‐thinking and motivated to contribute at a senior level
