JOB OVERVIEWAll aspects of credit control throughout the practice to ensure the minimum delay in the settlement of outstanding invoices and the most beneficial cash flow situation. Liaising with heads of practice areas to maximise co-operation. Advising the Finance Operations Manager of any areas of concern with the management of credit control and acting on their instructions.

MAIN DUTIES

Sending bill reminders and letters to clients for settlement of outstanding bills

Sending copy bills to clients when necessary

Liaising on the telephone with clients regarding payment of bills

Dealing with account queries for clients and fee earners

Liaising with fee earners concerning chasing of outstanding bills and settlement of bills from client monies held

Settlement of bills from money held on client account

Taking card payments by telephone, in accordance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standards

When required providing cover and support for other members of the Credit Control team

EXPERIENCE

Experience within a professional services environment, ideally (but not essentially) legal

A minimum of six to twelve months experience of computer assisted credit control work

Accustomed to dealing with clients, partners, fee earners and other support staff at all levels in person and on the telephone as appropriate to the level of the post.

Accustomed to dealing with external parties often at senior level and in difficult circumstances

Accustomed to delivering work to deadlines

Accustomed to working without close supervision

Able to demonstrate confidentiality and integrity

SKILLS

Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written

Professional, hard-working, self-motivated and commercially aware

Methodical, accurate and well-organised

Flexible attitude a true team player

A good level of basic understanding of credit control ideally in a legal practice

A high level of diplomacy, tact and negotiation skills
