Job description

Teaching Assistant - SEN School (Complex Needs)
Full-Time Only | Temp to Perm | Start ASAP / After Easter / September

Academics are working in partnership with a specialist secondary school to recruit dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support pupils with complex learning difficulties.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent. Due to the needs of the students, full-time availability is essential to ensure consistency, routine, and strong relationships within the classroom.

The school supports pupils aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including complex learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, speech, language and communication needs, and medical needs. The environment is highly supportive, structured, and focused on helping students develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills.

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting the class teacher with delivering tailored learning activities
  • Promoting communication, engagement, and independence
  • Supporting students with additional needs, including autism and communication difficulties
  • Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

Who We're Looking For:

  • Individuals who are patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting young people with additional needs
  • Full-time availability is essential
  • Experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential
  • Candidates with care experience, personal experience, or a background in psychology are strongly encouraged to apply
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a career in education, psychology, or SEN support, or for those with care backgrounds seeking a rewarding new direction.

The school has a clear vision of supporting pupils to become confident communicators and more independent individuals, enabling them to lead happy, healthy lives and make positive contributions to their community.

If you are looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference every day, we would love to hear from you.
