SEND Teaching Assistant

Job description

Horizon Teachers are looking for an experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a Primary school in Wandsworth on a long-term basis.This role involves supporting children with special educational needs both in and out of the classroom on a 1:1 and group basis, so a caring and patient nature is essential.

What youll be doing

• Supporting children with SEND so they can access learning and feel confident at school.
• Providing personal care when needed (e.g. Toileting, feeding, or mobility support).
• Working closely with the class teacher to adapt activities and resources to suit individual needs.
• Encouraging independence, social skills, and self-esteem.
• Building trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

• Experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting, or in a similar care focused role.
• Someone who is flexible and is happy to work across a range of year groups.
• A patient, empathetic, and reliable approach to both learning support and personal care.
• Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a close-knit team.
