Overview Steelphalt are looking for an Apprentice Asphalt Laboratory Technician to complete a level 3 Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician apprenticeship.This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a laboratory setting while working towards a nationally recognized qualification. The candidate will support the testing and analysis of asphalt materials to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.Role & responsibilities Assist in the preparation and testing of asphalt samples using standard laboratory equipment and proceduresRecord and report test results accurately and promptlyVerify compliance of results and initiate corrective action where necessaryMaintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety regulationsSupport senior technicians in conducting quality control checks on raw materials and finished productsHelp calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipmentLearn and apply relevant industry standards (e.g., BS EN standards) and internal proceduresParticipate in training and development activities as part of the apprenticeship programPerform other duties efficiently and effectively as required by the Technical departmentSkills required Good communication and teamwork skillsBasic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word)Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a lab environmentPersonal qualities Interest in science, engineering, or construction materialsStrong attention to detail and willingness to learnSelf-motivatedSteelPhalt, a Harsco Environmental company, has been making roads safer by developing and manufacturing high-performance asphalt products for roadmaking in the UK industry since the 1960s. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study.
