SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor – Reading

ASAP Start | Full-Time | Long-Term Role

An inclusive and supportive school in Reading is looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor to work closely with pupils who present with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, and SEMH needs.

Key Details

Role: SEMH Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor

Location: Reading

Salary: £89–£100 per day

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

Start Date: ASAP

Age Group: Primary and/or Secondary (dependent on placement)

Ideal for: Psychology, Criminology, Counselling graduates or experienced support staff

Role Responsibilities

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs

Supporting behaviour regulation, emotional resilience, and positive coping strategies

Assisting with de-escalation and implementing behaviour support plans

Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times

Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
