OverviewSherbourne Fields is an outstanding all‐age special school for pupils with a broad spectrum of need including physical disabilities, medical conditions and learning needs. The school's population is wide ranging and diverse, with 263 pupils from a rich mix of social and cultural backgrounds. We are looking to recruit a positive, patient and friendly driver to join our small team of dedicated drivers. As a permanent minibus driver you will transport pupils to and from school each day, ensuring they are safe and secure throughout their journey. You will also be supported by a minibus escort.

Role DescriptionDrivers must possess a D1 category licence and have passed the City Council Defensive Drivers Assessment or be willing to undertake the assessment. You will also participate in the MiDAS training scheme ensuring you meet your legal Health and Safety responsibilities.

Please note: this post may suit a semi‐retired person looking to take on some part‐time paid driving work within the local community.

Key Responsibilities

Transport pupils to and from school each day

Ensure safety and security of pupils during journeys

Assist pupils and young adults on and off minibuses and people carriers

Work as part of a team

Adhere to scheduled hours – 15 hours per week minimum (7:30 am – 9:00 am / 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm) Monday to Friday during term time, plus additional overtime hours available through various local school trips taking place daily

Participate in required training and assessments

Qualifications & Experience

Over 21 years of age

Hold a full, clean driving licence for a minimum of three years

Possess a D1 category licence

Pass the City Council Defensive Drivers Assessment or commit to completing it

Experience or willingness to assist pupils with additional needs

Reliable and trustworthy, with a caring nature and sensitivity to others' needs

Good knowledge of the City and surrounding area
