Supervising Social Worker (Fostering)

Location: North West - Warrington - Runcorn - St Helens (Home-based with regional travel) Warrington,

Contract: Full-Time | 12-Month Fixed Term (Maternity Cover)

Salary: Up to £43,000

Start Date: ASAP 2026


About the Role

An established and values-driven fostering organisation is seeking an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their North West team on a fixed-term basis.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with foster carers, children and multi-agency professionals, ensuring high-quality placements and positive outcomes for children and young people in care.


You will play a key role in supporting, supervising and developing foster carers, while maintaining strong safeguarding standards and contributing to a collaborative, relationship-led approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide regular supervision and support to foster carers, ensuring high standards of care
  • Manage a realistic caseload, enabling meaningful engagement with foster families
  • Undertake assessments, reports and documentation to regulatory standards
  • Support the recruitment, training and development of foster carers
  • Work in partnership with local authorities, professionals and stakeholders
  • Participate in safeguarding processes, including child protection meetings
  • Contribute to out-of-hours support on a rota basis


What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Experience within fostering services
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • fostering regulations
  • childcare legislation
  • safeguarding frameworks
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with foster carers and professionals
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
