Assistant Accountant

Job description

We are currently working alongside a well-established and long-standing business based in Blackpool who are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their busy finance team. The role is a newly created position due to a team restructure, and they are looking for someone who wants to take the next step and gain some exposure to the month end processes

Duties include: -

• Responsible for preparation of the weekly financial statements
• Perform weekly stock reconciliations and identify variances and wastage levels
• Work closely with the Management Accountant at month end to produce the monthly reporting
• Monitor the monthly departmental budgets and expenditure and develop accountability with budget holders
• Monitor the accuracy of the nominal ledger and associated ledger balances
• Produce the monthly financial statements for the largest cost centre in the Group
• Assist the wider finance team on adhoc projects and deadlines.

The candidate we are looking for will already be experienced within an accounts environment and have at least 2 years exposure to ledger management and reconciliations. Ideally you will be studying AAT and be looking to develop your career further in the accounts function.

• Solid experience with transactional processing
• Experience of Sage, and excellent knowledge of Excel
• AAT Studier (Level 3 or 4 ideally)
• Team player, solid communicator, ambition and willing to succeed.
