Job description

Socode are partnering with a technology company developing advanced engineered systems used in high-performance industrial environments. As their product development activity continues to grow, they’re looking to bring in a Engineering Manager to be the Technical Lead and to drive system-level design and guide technical direction across new platforms.


This is a hands-on leadership role working across mechanical, electronics and software disciplines. You’ll play a central role in defining architecture, solving complex engineering challenges, and ensuring robust system performance from concept through to delivery.


What will you be doing?

• Leading the technical direction of complex system development across multidisciplinary teams

• Defining overall system architecture and ensuring seamless integration between components

• Acting as the senior technical authority within projects, supporting key design decisions

• Driving innovation and continuous improvement across system capability and performance

• Collaborating with engineering and product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions

• Supporting prototype development, integration and validation activities

• Identifying technical risks and ensuring mitigation strategies are in place

• Coaching and supporting engineers to strengthen technical capability across the team


What are they looking for?

• Strong experience in designing and developing complex engineering systems

• Background working across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electronics, software integration)

• Proven ability to lead technical delivery within product development environments

• Strong understanding of system architecture and integration challenges

• Confident communicator, able to influence technical direction

• Comfortable operating in an R&D or innovation-led environment

• Degree in Engineering, Physics or a related discipline


Nice to have

• Experience with fluid systems, precision equipment or mechatronics

• Exposure to high-performance or industrial systems

• Experience taking products from concept through to production

• Familiarity with modelling, simulation or advanced analysis techniques
