HGV Class 1 Driver – Tamworth, Staffordshire

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Tamworth, Staffordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, consistent weekday work, and long-term progression within a professional logistics environment.

Shifts

• Monday – Friday
• Start times between 03:00 and 07:00 (flexibility required)

Rates of Pay

• Basic: £17.00 per hour
• Saturday: £19.14 per hour
• Sunday: £25.18 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Carrying out 2–3 depot-to-depot trunking runs per shift (curtain-sider work, no handball)
• Operating Class 1 vehicles safely and efficiently to and from delivery locations
• Completing daily vehicle checks before and after each shift
• Ensuring all loads are secured and compliant with transport regulations
• Communicating effectively with the transport office and customers
• Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance issues promptly

Essential Skills

• Valid UK Category C+E Licence
• Minimum 12 months' experience driving C+E vehicles
• No more than six penalty points for minor infringements (no major endorsements)
• Valid UK CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
• Strong understanding of UK traffic laws and regulations
• Excellent communication and timekeeping skills
• Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism at all times

Desirable Experience

• Previous commercial driving experience
• Experience with multi-drop or trunking operations

Training Provided

• Driver assessment required prior to start
• One-day paid induction following successful assessment
