HGV Class 1 Driver – West Bromwich

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in West Bromwich, West Midlands.

Shifts

  •  Thursday to Monday
  •  Afternoon starts between 14:00 and 17:00

Rates of Pay

  •  £17.20 per hour (basic)
  •  £20.00 per hour after 20:00 (Monday to Saturday)
  •  £22.00 per hour (Sunday)

Day-to-Day Duties

  •  Carrying out RDC or brewery deliveries (curtain-side, no handball required)
  •  Operating and driving Class 1 (Category CE) vehicles safely and efficiently
  •  Carrying out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  •  Ensuring all loads are loaded and secured correctly
  •  Adhering to traffic laws and regulations
  •  Communicating effectively with dispatch and customers
  •  Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance needs to management
  •  Assisting with loading and unloading of cargo as required
  •  Delivering cages to DCs and supermarkets
  •  Completing up to 2 drops per shift

Essential Skills

  •  Valid UK Category CE driving licence
  •  Minimum of 12 month's experience driving CE vehicles
  •  Valid UK Driver CPC card and Digital Tachograph card
  •  No more than six penalty points for minor offences and no major endorsement codes
  •  Good level of spoken and written English
  •  Punctual with excellent time-keeping
  •  Good understanding of traffic laws and regulations
  •  Effective communication skills

Desirable Experience

  •  Previous commercial driving experience
  •  Previous multi-drop delivery experience

Training Provided

  •  Driver assessment must be completed before starting
