Betty & The Brands is a vibrant independent concept store in the heart of Brighton, showcasing over 40 independent designers, artists, vintage pieces and sustainable brands .

Our store brings together carefully curated vintage clothing alongside contemporary independent labels , creating a unique retail space where creativity, sustainability and personal style meet.

Everything in our store has a story. Many of the makers we work with design and produce in small batches, and we proudly sell their work directly to customers , supporting creative businesses and sustainable production in a meaningful way.

Our team plays an important role in bringing these brands to life. Staff are expected to develop a strong understanding of the designers and vintage pieces we showcase, their products and their sustainability values , helping customers connect with the stories behind the pieces they buy.

The RoleWe're looking for an experienced and responsible Retail Assistant to support the shop during school holidays, half terms, Easter holidays and the summer season , with occasional weekend shifts.

This is a varied and hands‐on role. You may often be running the shop independently , so confidence, initiative and reliability are essential.

Alongside customer service and styling, the role also involves visual merchandising, stock management, steaming garments, preparing vintage pieces for sale, processing deliveries and uploading products to our Shopify website as we continue to expand our online store.

You'll be expected to build a strong knowledge of the designers, vintage pieces and products we stock , so you can confidently guide customers and share the stories behind the brands we showcase.

Experience & Skills

Previous retail experience is required (at least 1 year), ideally within fashion, boutique or independent retail

Comfortable running the shop independently as a key holder

Confident, responsible and proactive

Strong customer service and communication skills

Skilled at visual merchandising and store presentation

Experience using Shopify or similar platforms to upload products

Organised, reliable and able to think on your feet

Interested in sustainable fashion, vintage clothing and independent designers
