About the roleWe've come a long way in a short time, but there's still so much more we can do. We have grand ambitions to make Dayshape the most scalable, flexible and rapid to deploy solution on the market, and we're not there yet. We have a range of product and internal projects which are ideal for someone starting out on their journey as a software professional. That's where you come in.

This role is a 9-month placement as a Software Engineer within our product development teams.

What you'll doCode new features and enhancements

Work as part of our engineering team to enhance scalability, performance, maintainability, configurability, and internationalisation

Support our culture of learning, development and teamwork

Be involved in the entire life cycle of features, including idea creation, deployment, and longer-term updates and enhancements

Work on a wide variety of different challenges across the product and codebase

Help solve internal problems which prevent us going faster with innovative software solutions

Get some exposure across our entire tech stack, which covers in no particular order HTML/CSS, JavaScript, C#, .Net, Vue.js, AngularJS, Jest, Playwright, MS Azure

Able to demonstrate good knowledge of software development practices and principles

Able to adapt in changing circumstances and ready to learn quickly

Able to consider the broader impact of your design and coding decisions

Great at breaking down big tasks into small chunks and solving tricky problems

An excellent communicator, willing to share your opinions and ask questions

Bonus points if you haveBuilt projects using Vue.js applications or similar frameworks or using any of the rest of our stack: JavaScript, .Net (+Core), SQL Server, and/or Microsoft Azure

What you'll getStarting salary of £34,226

Working DetailsThis is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week). We typically work from 09:00 - 17:30 from Monday to Friday, though we can be flexible around this, just let us know.

We're ideally looking for someone in/around Edinburgh, able to work on a hybrid basis between home and our Haymarket office. We don't mandate required office days, but most of the team enjoy working from the office 2-3 days a week to connect with their team and other Dayshapers, to make use of space, and for meetings and collaboration.
