Market Analysis Intern

Job description

Market Analysis InternWe are looking for a Market Analysis Intern to join our Energy Markets team based in Solihull

Here's what you'll be doingWe need everyone's positive energy and innovative thinking to lead the energy transition to net zero. That's why we welcome applications from all backgrounds and experiences and have a range of flexible working options to suit everyone!

We are E.ON and we're leading the energy transition. Providing smart, sustainable and personalised solutions for customers at home, in business and across entire towns and cities.

We make sure everything we do is focused on our customers, helping them with the major changes that are happening today and creating a new energy world that is decentralised, green, and interconnected.

The Market Analysis (MA) Team sits within E.ON's Energy Markets (Trading) function and is responsible for E.ON's Price Forward Curves (PFC) for wholesale gas and power. These curves are increasingly influenced by the growth of renewables in the generation mix and the transition to Net Zero. Understanding how changes in fundamental market data affect price shapes-and how to incorporate these insights into our PFC methodology-is critical for our business.

We are developing a new suite of Power BI reports for analysing fundamental market data. This is an opportunity to revamp our existing tools and reports (currently a mix of Excel, Power BI, and Python) into a single, comprehensive dashboard.

Working alongside the MA Team, you will help design and build the dashboard from the ground up. This includes:

Ingesting and formatting data from multiple sources (E.ON Datalake and third‐party databases via API pulls)

Creating graphical interpretations of the data to understand trends, relationships, and identify outliers

Performing statistical analyses alongside the visualisations

Transitioning to a single, automated dashboard will save significant time currently spent loading and manipulating data, and become a central tool for our daily operations.

Alongside improving your Power BI and Python skills, you will gain a strong understanding of energy market fundamentals.

What we need from you

Currently studying towards a degree in a Maths/Statistics-based discipline

Interest in mathematical modelling and experience with Python (Power BI experience desirable but not essential)

Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail

Comfortable working independently to set and achieve goals

Available to attend an interview in April 2026, if shortlisted

Available to undertake the internship from June 2026 to October 2026

Here's what you need to know

Flexible working arrangements and hybrid options available.

Contract length adaptable to your studies (minimum 2 months) with flexible start and end dates.

Guidance and supervision will be provided as needed.

Opportunity to gain insights into a dynamic and evolving industry.

Salary: £25,007 pro rata

Award‐Winning Workplace: Proud to be named a Sunday Times Best Place to Work 2025 and Best Place to Work for 16-34-year-olds.

We reserve the right to close the vacancy early if a high number of applications are received.
