Junior Designer-Seasonal Homewares 12 Months FTC

Job description

OverviewHelp us create the joy of truly feeling at home. Now and for the generations to come.

We are the UK's leading homewares retailer – ambitious about our brand, about being a good company and about sustainable growth.

If you aspire to become part of a talented and professional product design team who are central to the creative direction of our business, then keep reading.

We are a highly collaborative group of designers, dedicated to creating exceptional products that seamlessly coordinate within the home. Our mission is to provide direction for a wide and varied range of brands, including Dorma, Fogarty, The Edited Life, Churchgate, Elements, and our parent brand, Dunelm.

Our Design team plays a pivotal role in crafting exciting new product ranges aimed at boosting sales and wowing our customers with sustainability and circular design principles at their core. They are continuously engaged in researching emerging trends in product design, consumer lifestyles, colour forecasting, and innovative materials. Their expertise guides the creative direction for all categories each season, which is then seamlessly integrated into our departmental strategies.

If you're an entry‐level designer with plenty of enthusiasm and a love for creating beautiful things, this could be your next step. We're looking for a Junior Designer to join our Seasonal team, a wonderfully varied category that covers everything from Outdoor Living and Christmas to Travel and Pets. No two days (or products!) are quite the same, which keeps things fun, fast‐moving, and full of ideas.

In this role, you'll support the team by assisting with designs, learning our processes, and helping to bring our brand identity and vision to life, all with plenty of guidance along the way. Think of it as getting hands‐on with the creative work while also building confidence in how great products come to life.

What you'll be doing

Create and refine thoughtful, well‐considered designs, showing confidence even when working with minimal guidance.

Support senior designers on larger projects, bringing fresh ideas, enthusiasm and a collaborative approach

Use the core design software confidently, producing clear, accurate and high‐quality work

Work comfortably on your own or as part of a team, taking feedback in a positive and constructive way

Show initiative and resourcefulness, finding smart solutions and spotting opportunities to make our designs even better

What we'll look for in you

Some hands‐on experience in a creative or design setting, showing you understand the basics and are ready to grow.

Comfort using key design software, with the foundations in place and plenty of enthusiasm to build your skills

A genuine willingness to learn, take direction, and approach feedback with a positive, open mindset

A strong portfolio that shows your potential, your creativity and the spark of your own design personality

Please include a link to your portfolio on your CV.
