CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Part‐time (14 hours per week)
DEPARTMENT: Nations, Shrewsbury
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 - £33,900 pro‐rate, per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLEWeekend bulletins are a key part of BBC Radio Shropshire's output and we're looking for someone who can make them standout. As an experienced journalist, you'll have strong legal knowledge and be able to spot the stories which matter to our listeners. You'll be responsible for writing, compiling, and reading news and sport bulletins into our shared breakfast and daytime programmes, working alongside our online teams to ensure stories travel as far as possible.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
Writing, compiling and reading our weekend news bulletins.
Willingness to learn new skills and put them into practice.
A self‐starter who can work on your own without supervision as well as part of a team.
Develop a good knowledge of the area, and the issues which matter to the people who live here.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Good news judgment and grasp of editorial and legal guidelines.
Experience of reading and compiling news bulletins.
Great writing skills.
Strong on‐air voice.
Ability to get to our newsroom in Shrewsbury for 6 AM.
DESIRABLE
Knowledge of BBC systems including Optimo, Dira and OpenMedia.
Full driving licence.
A knowledge of the issues which are important to working families in Shropshire.
Able to read bulletins to time.
Experience of using a studio desk.
