Job description

OverviewAECOM is seeking a Communications Intern in our Federal Government Consulting / Strategic Communications Group who is interested in business, communications, and consulting to support both our municipal and federal clients. This position is designed to introduce and build essential, hands‐on skills that differ from those attained in the academic area and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well‐rounded learning experience. This position is expected to begin in May 2026 in Chelmsford, MA.

Responsibilities

Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out business related and financial tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgement and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

Support internal and external communications.

Assist with tabulating / reviewing project budgets.

Assist with complying with project quality requirements.

Assist with miscellaneous administrative tasks including report writing / editing, employee travel coordination, and subcontractor support.

Work under the supervision of a project engineer or project manager.

Qualifications

Pursuing a business or communications degree.

Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor's degree in the most recent school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.

Must have completed one year of study.

Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment, and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.

A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline‐driven environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project.

Ability to multi‐task.

Strong logic skills and writing skills.

Good communication skills.

Documents time and effort accurately.

Work under supervision of a project manager or senior‐level team member.
