Modern Apprentice Opportunity – Development Lab Technician (Glasgow G20)

Todd Campus, West of Scotland Science Park

This is a unique chance to work alongside experienced scientists developing formulations and analytical methods that support early‐stage clinical trials. Nat 5 in Chemistry and English required.

What You'll Be DoingAs a Modern Apprentice Technician, you'll support our Formulation & Analytical Development teams by helping keep our labs running safely, smoothly, and efficiently. You'll learn how to:

Assist scientists preparing batches and conducting analytical work

Perform daily lab checks and equipment calibration

Maintain lab organisation, stock levels, and documentation

Communicate with cross‐site teams including Logistics and Warehouse

Follow quality and safety procedures aligned with industry standards

This role is hands‐on, varied, and ideal for someone excited by science or problem‐solving.

You will earn while you learn through a recognised Scottish apprenticeship provider (e.g., Glasgow Clyde College, City of Glasgow College, UWS), gaining a qualification in a science or laboratory subject.

You'll also receive in‐house training on:

Analytical and formulation equipment

COSHH and risk assessments

Health, Safety & Quality systems

Inventory management and ordering processes

By the end of the programme, you'll be skilled, confident, and ready to consider a long‐term career in science or pharmaceuticals.
