Council Tax Officer (Full-time or Part-time)

About youDo you enjoy helping customers and all aspects of account management? We are looking for motivated individuals to join our Council Tax team, with a strong focus on providing a high-quality customer service.

You have strong communication and negotiation skills. You are well organised, accurate and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining fairness and empathy. You are experienced in using Microsoft Office 365.

About the roleYou will provide a customer-focused Council Tax service, ensuring that billing, collection and recovery processes are carried out accurately and in line with legislation. You will make liability decisions, process refunds, manage payment arrangements, and help ensure income is maximised through effective recovery. The role also involves handling customer enquiries across multiple channels and supporting continuous service improvement. Appointment is subject to standard pre-employment checks, including a Standard DBS check.

About the teamYou'll be joining a newly structured Local Taxation team at an exciting time of change. The service is being modernised to strengthen resilience, improve digital systems and provide an even better experience for residents and businesses across Exeter. You'll work alongside colleagues who value teamwork, accuracy and good communication to deliver a fair and responsive Council Tax service.
