Job description
Job PurposeThe purpose of the job is to serve customers and assist with general sales duties at one of the Museums and Galleries retail operations. This includes dealing with customer sales and enquiries, keeping shops stocked and clean.

Roles that require PVG MembershipFrom 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full‐time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above – currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour). The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members or £59 for non‐members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first full month's salary payment.
Qualifications
Educated to standard grade level or equivalent.
Practical experience in dealing with the public in the customer service or retail industry, with a demonstrable commitment to high standards of customer care.
Experience of handling cash effectively.
Previous experience of using communication and numeracy skills to achieve excellent standards.
Previous experience of working successfully as part of a team and on own initiative.
Able to do work which is physically demanding.
Flexible approach to work, including working weekends.
Experience of stock control.
Good knowledge of local area and services.
