Argenta Private Capital Limited (APCL) is a leading adviser to private and corporate capital at Lloyd's, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. APCL advises wealthy individuals and companies on how to provide capital that supports underwriting at Lloyd's and on which syndicates to support. Together APCL clients provide around $3bn of capital to Lloyd's.

Investors benefit from the dynamic and profitable business of insurance that is an essential part of the world's economy. The returns from underwriting tend not to be correlated with the returns from other investments making Lloyd's attractive to those also seeking diversification within their investment portfolio. APCL prides itself in providing careful considered advice which is applicable to the individual needs and circumstances of clients in the UK and overseas, combined with the highest level of personal service.

About the roleThis is a Graduate program consisting of rotations around the different areas of the APCL business to gain experience of the key concepts and services provided to support clients with their Lloyd's investment. Throughout the course of the program learning outcomes will include:

Corporate Capital and Client DirectorsAs a graduate, you'll learn how APCL supports clients who invest capital into the Lloyd's insurance market, and how that investment is managed from start to finish. Client Directors and the Corporate Capital team work closely together, and you'll gain exposure to both sides of this work.

APCL works with a wide range of clients, including:

UK and international individuals

Family offices

Insurers and Reinsurers

Corporate and institutional investors

ResearchYou'll learn how the Lloyd's market works, what types of insurance are written, and why it attracts capital from investors around the world. You'll learn:

What types of insurance business are written at Lloyd's and how syndicates operate

Why APCL carries out detailed research into syndicates, and how this research supports client investment decisions

How to calculate and interpret the key metrics used to assess syndicate performance, and what drives those results

Business DevelopmentYou'll gain a broad understanding of Lloyd's as an alternative investment, and how it fits within the wider Alternatives landscape. This includes learning:

How the Lloyd's investment opportunity compares with other types of alternative investments

The different entry routes into Lloyd's offered by APCL

The needs and priorities of both institutional investors and private‐wealth clients

Tax & AccountingYou'll build a foundation‐level understanding of accounting and tax concepts relevant to Lloyd's investments. This includes:

Understanding basic accounting principles

Gaining awareness of UK and international tax considerations

Learning how to read and understand financial statements

OperationsYou'll gain a clear understanding of how Operations keeps APCL and the Lloyd's market running smoothly. You'll be exposed to:

Capital & Reporting – how client capital is managed, tracked and reported in line with Lloyd's requirements

Client Onboarding – how new clients and company directors are set up correctly and compliantly

Systems & Data – how technology and data support reporting, controls and decision‐making

Compliance – how due diligence and anti‐money laundering processes protect clients and the business

This experience shows how strong operational foundations enable effective client service and investment activity.

About you

Recent graduate studying towards any degree background. A 2:1 grade (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential. We look for potential and willingness to learn

Technical knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel and the ability to build and interpret spreadsheets

Intellectually curious individuals who enjoy problem solving

Strong data analysis skills and meticulous attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work under pressure and 'multi-task'

Strong problem-solving skills

Accuracy and attention to detail essential

Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and develop working relationships with team members/other departments within the Argenta Group

Willing to expand on general knowledge and market knowledge through additional qualifications and learnings
