Military & Athlete 2026 Talent Placement – Commercial Operations & Settlements AnalystLocation: This is a London (close to Marble Arch) based role; you are expected to work 3 days p/w from the office.

About Centrica EnergyCentrica Energy (CE) is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade gas, power, LNG and provide the route to market for our upstream and power generation operations.

What you'll doJoin our Commercial Operations & Settlements team and play a key part in managing the full trade lifecycle — from trade execution and capture, through to invoicing, settlement and cash confirmation. You'll help support real-time trading activity, ensure accurate P&L reporting, and contribute to a strong control environment as we continue to grow.

This placement offers broad exposure across the commercial side of the business. You'll work closely with colleagues in Front Office, Risk, Finance and wider Operations, supporting activities across both standard and complex products. This includes trade capture, lifecycle management, static data, invoicing, settlements and cash processes.

It's a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys problem solving , ownership and continuous improvement. During the placement, we'll help you quickly build knowledge of the trade lifecycle and settlement processes.

Trade Capture & Lifecycle

Capture, validate and maintain trades accurately and on time

Resolve lifecycle issues and provide intraday support to Front Office

Support onboarding of new products, structured deals and counterparties

Maintain accurate static data in line with Group policies

Invoicing & Settlements

Deliver timely, accurate invoicing and settlement across physical OTC trades, swaps and options

Validate invoices and payments against contractual terms

Process netting statements and ensure funds move on time

Support accurate cash forecasting for Group Treasury

Controls & Continuous Improvement

Operate within a strong control framework and meet internal policy requirements

Identify opportunities to improve processes and introduce automation

Help build a scalable, efficient operational platform

Stakeholder Engagement

Work closely with Front Office, Risk, Finance, Legal and Operations

Communicate clearly, take ownership of issues and support new business initiatives

What we're looking forwe're looking for potential, not perfection. You don't need to meet every requirement to apply:

Key Skills & Experience

Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant analytical field (e.g. Finance, economics, business, maths or engineering)

Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced trading environment

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Proactive problem solver with clear, confident communication skills

Comfortable owning BAU and project work to tight deadlines

Experience with controls, static data or KYC

Analytical mindset with a drive for continuous improvement

Experience with high-volume, automated, process driven environments, together with an understanding of accruals, invoicing and settlement processes, and the ability to quickly learn Energy Trading and Risk Management systems (e.g. Endur) and ERP/banking systems (SAP), is highly desirable. Experience in physical or financial energy markets is also beneficial but not essential for this placement.
