Junior Clinical Fellow (FY1) In Urology and Gen Surgery

Job OverviewThe FY1 Junior Clinical Fellow doctor in Urology/Gen Surgery is responsible for delivering safe, effective day‐to‐day clinical care to patients under the Clinical teams, primarily based on the inpatient ward, with additional exposure to theatre and outpatient activity where appropriate. The role focuses on developing core clinical skills, managing common surgical/urological conditions, and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

Responsibility for the care of in‐patients admitted under the supervising consultant

Detailed clerking and initiation of all necessary investigations for the patient

Keeping full notes and ensuring medical records are constantly updated

Attendance at ward rounds

Completion of discharge notes

Attendance at education and training meetings

Undertake, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergency and unforeseen circumstances

Undertake, exceptionally, to be available for such irregular commitments, outside normally rostered duties which are essential for patient care

Work under the supervision of and be responsible to their respective Consultant, or the On Call Consultant and the Clinical Directors within General Surgery

Participation in the on call rota. The current on‐call commitment is 1:21, with prospective cover.

Participation in theatres. Observing or assisting consultants and registrars in planned elective cases across Upper GI, Colorectal & Urology
