An inclusive and diverse Specialist School is looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to help support and encourage children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs through the school day. The pupils have a variety of difficulties, including but not limited to anxiety, learning difficulties, trauma, ASD, ADHD, OCD and behavioural challenges. The perfect candidate will be proactive, understanding and ready for a challenge.

Responsibilities

Support and shadow the class teacher

Provide 1:1 and small group support to SEN students

Help run engaging lessons to make the classroom a fun, engaging and safe place

Behavioural management, personal care and emotional support where necessary

Role Details

Location: Trowbridge

Salary: £85 - £100 per day

Hours: Mon to Fri, 8:30am – 3:30pm

Contract: Full-time, starting ASAP (flexibility if the perfect candidate applies)

Qualifications and Qualities

Graduates in Psychology, Criminology or Health & Social Care are ideal

General understanding of welfare and mental health is beneficial

Proactive, empathetic, confident and able to use initiative

Experience working with children with mental health needs is advantageous
