OverviewWhipps Cross Hospital is looking to recruit a Healthcare Support Worker (HCA) Band 3 who will work in the Acute Assessment Unit, Older Persons Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Care. The post is open to experienced HCA's in the NHS or elsewhere. Support will be offered to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within six months upon successful completion of all required competencies.

Responsibilities

Patient observations (e.g., monitoring vital signs)

Assisting with personal care and mobility

Supporting patients' nutritional and hydration needs

Undertaking a limited range of delegated duties (e.g. Taking blood pressure, recording ECG, MRSA screening)

Simple wound dressings

Strong teamworking and communication skills are essential to ensure the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of our patients.

Work within a challenging clinical environment and may undertake shift work which may include nights and weekends.

Act actively as part of the nursing team, working under direct supervision of the registered nurse to meet patients' needs and service standards.

Continue to develop essential competencies through training and practice to ensure safety and quality are priorities.

Working ConditionsShift work may include nights and weekends. The role involves working in a clinical environment across the Acute Assessment Unit, Older Persons Assessment Unit and Same Day Emergency Care.

Development & ProgressionNew to care applicants will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within six months upon successful completion of all required competencies; until then, placement will be at a Band 2 salary.
