Airside Operations Data Intern

Job description

The airside operations team works to ensures safe and efficient operations in runways, taxiways, and aprons. It coordinates aircraft movements, manages ground services such as coaching and baggage handling, and enforces safety and security protocols. The team also communicates with airline staff to streamline aircraft turnaround times and address operational challenges.

As a Airside Operations Data Intern, you will support the optimisation of stand, coaching allocation, baggage delivery, immigration congestion and delay investigation through data analysis, reporting improvements, and insight generation. You will work closely with operational teams, IT, and Business Analytics to help enhance performance, reduce delays, and improve the overall aircraft performance and passenger experience.

About the Recruitment ProcessThe recruitment process for this role will be a two stage process. The first interview will be a Teams interview with our Airside Operations Planning & Performance Manager and one of our Capacity Managers. We'll ask questions about your experience, motivation in applying for the role and how the role aligns with your studies & career aspirations. Successful candidates will then be invited to the second stage interview, which will involve a take home task which we will ask you to present on during the second, in person interview.

What you'll be doing

Working with the Airside Operations and Analytics teams to improve data reporting and operational insights

Creating dashboards and automated reports to simplify performance tracking across key metrics such as coaching demand, stand allocation, immigration congestion, baggage delivery and airline performance

Reviewing and developing existing datasets and reporting processes, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Supporting data analysis for operational change projects aimed at improving stand allocation, coaching performance and delay reduction

Assisting in monitoring performance trends and providing recommendations to support the Airside Operations team

What we're looking forTo apply for this role, you'll need to be a student who is currently enrolled in College or University, studying a STEM related degree.

A problem solver who can create data led solutions to a variety of problems.

You will be required to engage with a variety of teams across the business including IT and Business Analytics. Representing EAL to third parties. We require a team player who can work well with others who demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills.

We are also looking for a self‐motivated individual with a "cando" outlook.

Strong experience with Excel

The following items would be nice to have but are not essential for the role:

Tableau – understanding of this software is desired

Python – understanding of this software is desired

An interest in aviation is desired
