Job description

Ambulance Care Assistant/DriverNon‐Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) is a service provided by the Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Trust for patients who meet the eligibility criteria set by the Trust and transport commissioners.

Responsibilities

Assist patients in getting out of their homes and into the ambulance, including lifting as required.

Transport patients safely and comfortably to their appointments and return them home.

Ensure patients are settled before leaving.

Keep accurate records of journeys on both the PDA and daily log sheet.

Show kindness and respect to patients and their relatives, who may include older people, physically disabled individuals, or people with mental health problems.

Maintain regular communication with the control room via PDA, receiving work allocations and advice.

Perform vehicle checks (tyre pressure, oil, wash levels) and report any defects or missing stock to the Fleet Team.

Keep the vehicle adequately stocked and refuel as needed.

Return untidy ambulances to the Shift Manager and report any incidents or cancellations.

Work in line with all policies and procedures, wear the issued uniform at all times and sign out/in equipment used.

Qualifications & Requirements

Valid, current, full (manual) UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points, held for a minimum of 2 years.

Ability to work physically demanding schedules, including long periods on the road.

Salary£13.85 per hour – London Living Wage (not on Agenda For Change terms & conditions).
