Principal Mechanical Engineer – Radar Systems | BAE Systems | UK | SC Required (Not needed to start)

BAE Systems have a requirement for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the development of next-generation radar technologies.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership position within a highly secure engineering environment, ideal for someone with deep expertise across mechanical design, analysis, and integration of complex systems.

The Role:

• Lead mechanical engineering activity across advanced radar development programmes
• Provide technical leadership to a team of mechanical & CAD engineers
• Own design, build, integration, and test of complex mechanical systems
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert (e.g. FEA, CFD, Structures, Thermal)
• Support engineering lifecycle from requirements through to in-service support

Key Experience Required:

• Strong background in mechanical design & system integration
• Experience with composite materials and structural behaviour
• Proven use of FEA / CFD / modelling & simulation tools
• Knowledge of shock, vibration, and dynamic loading environments
• Familiarity with engineering standards & full lifecycle delivery

Additional:

• Experience leading teams / work packages within engineering projects
• Strong stakeholder management and technical leadership capability
• CEng (or equivalent experience) desirable
• Experience with SAP PDM or similar tools beneficial

Environment:

• Working within a secure defence / radar engineering programme
• High level of technical ownership and influence

Security Requirements:

• Must be eligible for SC clearance (UK residency required)
