Job description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join this dynamic team in the field of Data Centre Engineering. As a key member of the organisation, you will play a crucial role in designing and optimising mechanical systems for Data Centre projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking the lead in large-scale projects and will delegate drawing and thermal calculations to junior staff members. Your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of sustainable, efficient, and innovative solutions.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineers to develop mechanical designs for HVAC, plumbing, and drainage systems for mission critical projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site surveys, and energy assessments to inform design decisions.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Evaluate equipment and materials for suitability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the mechanical design team.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (BEng minimum).
  • Chartered Engineer status (preferred). * Minimum 5-6 years of experience in mechanical design for building services.
  • Strong understanding and interest in the data centre industry
  • Experience of delivering large - scale mission critical projects within healthcare, aviation or pharmaceutical sectors. Data Centre experience is desirable but is not necessary.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit ).
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, cooling and fire protection systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Passion for sustainable design and energy efficiency
