Location: Remote island community (UK)

Contract: Minimum 3‑month interim (extension likely) or permanent

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Engineering & Maintenance Manager to join a small, self‑contained island community and support a broad range of engineering, maintenance, and operational activities. The role covers a busy period of seasonal work from now until October, with scope for a longer‑term or permanent appointment for the right person.

You will be working within a unique environment, supporting approximately 80–90 holiday properties and wider estate operations, offering both variety and the chance to make a real impact in a close‑knit setting.

The Role

Team Leadership & Maintenance Oversight

• Lead and coordinate a small team of 5 engineering/maintenance/freight staff.
• Plan, prioritise, and oversee day‑to‑day works, ensuring safety and quality standards.

Vehicle & Equipment Servicing

• Support maintenance and repair across a wide range of assets, including:
• Agricultural machinery
• Plant & equipment
• Horticultural and forestry machinery
• Road vehicles (engine and electric)
• Maintain proactive servicing schedules to ensure operational reliability.

Waste‑to‑Energy Plant Oversight

• Provide managerial oversight of a small waste‑to‑energy plant.
• Two trained team members handle technical maintenance; your role ensures compliance, planning, and operational continuity.

Logistics & Freight Support

• Assist the freight/logistics team in delivering goods to commercial outlets and residential properties across the island.

Broader Estate Support

• Contribute to general engineering, estate maintenance, and project support as needed across the community.

About You

You’ll be a practical, versatile engineering professional who is:

• Experienced across mechanical, plant, or multi‑discipline maintenance environments
• Confident leading a small team and managing workloads
• Adaptable and comfortable working across a broad role
• A team player with strong communication skills
• Willing and able to live on a small island community for the duration of the contract
