Commissioning Engineer, £40,000 to £60,000

Are you a Commissioning Engineer with HV substation experience looking for your next challenge?

How about taking that experience into a growing ICP working at the heart of the UK's renewable energy buildout?


My client is a specialist power engineering business that commissions the full substation package across Solar, BESS and grid connection projects from 11kV up to 132kV. They work in close-knit teams, the work is varied, and as they grow they're investing in the people who grow with them.

As one of their Commissioning Engineers you'll be out on site week in week out, working across some of the most technically interesting HV schemes in the renewables sector right now.


What you'll be doing:

  • Testing and commissioning HV switchgear, transformers, protection relays and LV/HV cables across utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Carrying out secondary and primary injection testing, insulation resistance, ductor testing, AC Hipot, VLF and CT analysis.
  • Programming and modifying protection relays to ensure systems operate in line with protection studies and drawings.
  • Producing and executing commissioning plans and ITPs, and maintaining accurate records throughout.


What experience do you need?

  • Proven hands-on experience commissioning HV substation plant, including switchgear, transformers and protection relays.
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting electrical schematics, ITPs and protection coordination studies.
  • Experience with Omicron or equivalent testing equipment is beneficial but not essential.

  • Salary £50,000 to £65,000 depending on experience
