Electronics Component Engineer – Bristol

A Component Engineer is required to join a hardware team developing advanced hardware platforms. The Component Engineer will support component selection, reliability assessment and lifecycle management across complex PCB assemblies. This Component Engineer role offers broad exposure to supply chain, manufacturing and hardware design within a fast‑paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify, qualify and manage electronic components for new and existing hardware platforms

• Work with hardware, PCB and manufacturing teams to resolve component‑related issues

• Analyse obsolescence risks, supply constraints and long term availability

• Maintain approved vendor lists, component libraries and lifecycle documentation

• Liaise with suppliers to obtain technical data, evaluations and compliance information

• Support failure analysis, reliability assessments and change‑control activities

• Contribute to design reviews and provide guidance on component suitability

Requirements

• Experience in component engineering, electronics manufacturing or hardware development

• Understanding of semiconductors, passives, connectors and PCB level components

• Familiarity with compliance, reliability, lifecycle and qualification processes

• Ability to interpret datasheets, reliability reports and component documentation

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
