Health, Safety & Sustainability Manager

Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 per annum + Bonus + Benefits Package

Location: Office & warehouse in Brentwood with travel to project sites (mostly London)

Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00 – 17:00

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Sustainability Manager to lead and maintain health, safety, and environmental standards across projects and operations. The role involves developing policies, monitoring compliance, conducting audits, and promoting best practices in H&S and sustainability.

You will work closely with senior leadership, project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure safety and environmental compliance, while driving continuous improvement in H&S performance and sustainability outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement H&S & environmental sustainability strategies across the business.
  • Maintain ISO certifications (9001, 14001, 45001) and compliance with UK legislation.
  • Conduct risk assessments, site audits, and monitor RAMS compliance.
  • Deliver H&S training, safety briefings, and embed behavioural safety principles.
  • Oversee environmental compliance, including waste, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents, resolve non-conformances, and report findings.
  • Develop and track KPIs, analyse performance data, and implement improvement plans.
  • Build strong relationships with operations, clients, contractors, and regulators.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S and environmental legislation.
  • Ability to travel to project sites across the UK.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • RQF Level 5 in a relevant field.
  • CDM Regulations training.
  • Managing Contractors H&S training.
  • RIDDOR training.
  • Intermediate Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • ASFP/IFE Level 1.
  • Experience with HandsHQ, SEATS, or similar H&S systems.
  • Risk & Method Statement software experience.
