Job description
Electrical Engineer – Solar, BESS & Emerging Technologies
Location: London / Hybrid
A fast growing renewable energy developer is seeking an ambitious Electrical Engineer to join their expanding technical team. This is a rare opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most exciting large‑scale solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, while also gaining exposure to emerging technologies such as data centres, geothermal and onshore wind.
This organisation is not a traditional corporate developer. You’ll be joining a small, high‑performing, entrepreneurial team where your ideas matter, your growth is encouraged, and your work directly shapes the future of the business. If you’re looking for accelerated career development, real responsibility, and the chance to influence major renewable projects from day one, this role delivers exactly that.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of utility‑scale renewable energy projects across the UK. Your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting power systems studies (load flow, fault level, harmonics) using industry‑standard software.
- Specifying and evaluating solar modules, inverters, transformers, switchgear and BESS equipment.
Grid & Regulatory
- Preparing and submitting grid connection applications to DNOs and National Grid.
- Managing the process through to offer acceptance.
- Staying up to date with UK grid codes, G99 requirements and ENA standards.
Project Delivery
- Supporting planning applications, EIAs and DCOs with technical inputs.
- Coordinating with consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers.
- Reviewing construction drawings and providing support during installation and commissioning.
Innovation & Automation
- Exploring and applying AI tools, scripting and automation to improve engineering workflows.
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Requirements:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Understanding of UK power systems and grid connection processes.
- Experience or familiarity with renewable energy electrical design.
- Knowledge of software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or PSS/E.
- A genuine interest in AI, coding (Python or similar) and automation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- A proactive, positive attitude and a desire to contribute to a fast‑moving project pipeline.
- A full UK driving licence.
