Overview


Our client, a leading and recently newly formed engineering joint venture, are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer – (Offshore Design) to join their growing team. This organisation brings together the expertise of two globally established engineering businesses to create and deliver independent, design-led solutions across offshore wind, oil & gas, and marine infrastructure projects.


For the purpose of applicants, this is a pre-feed / consultancy-focused role, with an emphasis on analysis, design and technical advisory work, rather than hands-on survey or installation.


The Role:


We are looking for a motivated Geotechnical Engineer with some basic / early experience in offshore foundation design. You will support the delivery of technically complex projects, contributing across concept, FEED, and detailed design stages. This role will involve close collaboration with other multidisciplinary teams (Structural / Cables etc), providing high-quality geotechnical input to support offshore developments globally.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Undertake geotechnical design and analysis for offshore structures, including:
  • Driven piles
  • Suction caissons / bucket foundations
  • Shallow foundations and anchors
  • Interpret and assess geotechnical and geophysical site investigation data
  • Help develop ground models and derive design parameters
  • Perform and/or review foundation design calculations (axial/lateral capacity, settlement, cyclic loading)
  • Provide technical input to multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Produce clear, concise technical reports and design documentation
  • Support feasibility studies, concept design, and tendering activities
  • Attend client meetings, technical workshops, and design reviews
  • Deliver independent technical advice and assurance
  • Contribute to ongoing technical development and innovation


Key Requirements:


  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or other Geo base (Master’s preferred)
  • Basic experience in offshore geotechnical or civil design,
  • Good knowledge of offshore standards (e.g., API, ISO, DNV)
  • Strong grounding in soil mechanics and foundation engineering
  • Experience with relevant software (e.g., PLAXIS, GRLWEAP, or similar)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills


Desirable Experience:


  • Experience in offshore wind projects (e.g., monopiles, jackets)
  • Understanding of cyclic loading and soil behaviour offshore
  • Experience with finite element modelling (FEA)
  • Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a client-facing consultancy role
