Job description
Senior DevOps Engineer – AWS Platform (Hands‑On)
Manchester | On‑site
Modern AWS | Built from scratch | No legacy
A high‑growth tech organisation in Manchester has built a fully modern AWS platform and is now looking for a hands‑on Senior DevOps Engineer to help operate, improve, and scale what’s already been designed by a very technical Head of DevOps.
This is not an architect or manager role, this is proper platform engineering.
What you’ll be working on
-Day‑to‑day ownership of a multi‑account AWS environment
-Working with ECS, ECR, VPC, Transit Gateway, IAM, Secrets Manager, NLB/ALB
-Supporting a self‑hosted ELK stack on ECS (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats)
-Managing log pipelines, cross‑account shipping & auto‑scaling
-Enhancing a live data workflow:
Aurora → S3 (Parquet) → Snowflake via AWS DMS
-Making the platform more automated, more reliable & more scalable
Who this role suits
-Strong AWS engineer (not a manager, not an architect)
-Loves solving deep technical problems
-Happy owning big chunks of a platform
-Confident with Terraform, Docker & automation
-Comfortable with observability (CloudWatch, ELK, etc.)
-Curious, proactive, and able to take initiative
Why it’s a great opportunity
-Everything is modern — no legacy anywhere
-Platform already built — you focus on making it better
-Work with a highly skilled, hands‑on Head of DevOps
-Massive technical autonomy
-Real impact in a small senior team
If you want to work on real AWS platform engineering — and help scale a multi‑account, containerised, fully observable, data‑driven cloud environment — drop me a message.
