Commercial Associate

Job description

A commercial law firm advising UK and international clients across a wide range of sectors is seeking to recruit a junior commercial associate (1–3 PQE) to support the continued growth of its Commercial team.

The firm combines high quality legal work with a collaborative and pragmatic culture. Its lawyers work closely with clients to provide clear, commercially focused advice and build long-term relationships.

The Team

The Commercial team advises clients on a wide range of commercial agreements across sectors including technology, life sciences and healthcare, hospitality, financial services, and defence and security.

The team also works closely with the firm’s Corporate and Private Equity teams, advising on the commercial, intellectual property, and data protection aspects of corporate transactions.

The Role

You will work closely with partners and senior lawyers across the Commercial and Corporate teams, supporting both advisory work and the team’s involvement in corporate transactions.

The role offers exposure to a broad client base, including high-growth businesses, private equity-backed companies, and established international organisations.

The role will involve a broad range of commercial work including:

• Drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, including supply, distribution, licensing and consultancy agreements
• Advising on IT and technology contracts, including software licensing, SaaS and cloud-based arrangements
• Advising on data protection matters and preparing compliance documentation
• Assisting on intellectual property matters
• Supporting corporate transactions

Candidate Requirements

• 1–3 years PQE in commercial contracts, technology, or related commercial work
• Experience in data protection preferred
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills
• Excellent written communication skills
