Job description
We are seeking a talented and experienced CIPA or EPAC qualified Patent Paralegal to join a leading central London based IP law firm.
As a Patent Paralegal, you will play a key role in supporting fee earners, taking ownership of a wide variety of substantive tasks that do not require a qualified attorney. With structured and repeatable tasks handled by dedicated support teams, you will focus on more complex, varied work that requires knowledge, initiative, and judgement.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with fee earners to support the delivery of high-quality IP services to clients
- Build and maintain strong relationships through regular direct client contact
- Assist in supervising, training, and mentoring junior Patent administrators and support staff
- Maintain accurate records within the IP management system, including cross-referencing with official registers and third-party databases
- Coordinate and manage international filings
- Handle formalities requirements associated with global filings
- Support and manage renewals, including liaising with external partners, foreign agents, and patent offices
- Assist with onboarding and managing client portfolio transfers
- Prepare, review, and distribute client portfolio reports
- Respond to enquiries from clients and foreign agents
- Prepare cost estimates and forecasts
- Assist with billing processes, including requesting invoices
- Assist with due diligence and legal research
- Contribute to internal projects, including business change initiatives and systems improvements
- Record assignments and manage name/address changes
- Obtain and manage signatures, notarisation, and legalisation of documents
- Liaise with internal support teams to ensure smooth service delivery
- Provide ad hoc support across the team where needed
