The Role

The organisation is seeking a Sustainability Specialist to provide strategic and technical sustainability input across a diverse portfolio of building projects. This role combines energy modelling, building performance analysis, regulatory compliance and the development of low‑carbon design strategies.

Working closely with multi‑disciplinary teams, you will help shape early-stage design decisions and ensure that sustainability principles are embedded throughout the lifecycle of each project.

Security clearance (DBS or vetting) may be required depending on project needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver sustainability assessments, including Part L compliance
  • Conduct dynamic thermal modelling using IESVE
  • Create energy strategies, carbon assessments & low/zero‑carbon feasibility studies
  • Provide early design advice (massing, orientation, façade design, thermal comfort)
  • Produce energy and sustainability documentation to support planning
  • Review building systems to assess environmental performance
  • Offer technical support to design teams and clients
  • Contribute to bid writing and fee proposals
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Maintain quality assurance standards and accurate project documentation
  • Support organisational priorities relating to Quality, People, Sustainability and Growth

Essential Skills

  • Relevant degree/Master’s in Engineering, Sustainability or Building Performance
  • Strong proficiency in IESVE
  • Experience delivering sustainability or energy consultancy projects
  • Understanding of UK Building Regulations and planning requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Skills

  • Membership of CIBSE, Energy Institute or similar
  • CIBSE LCC or LCEA accreditation
  • Experience leading client meetings and managing deliverables
