Mechanical Engineers – Life Science & Healthcare
Cambridge, UK | Full-time | Permanent
We're working with a leading Cambridge-based technology consultancy that is expanding its Mechanical Engineering capability across Life Science and Healthcare.
This opportunity offers the chance to work on a broad range of technically challenging and commercially impactful projects, from early-stage concept development through to product realisation and manufacture.
The Role
You will contribute to the design and development of innovative products across areas such as:
- Drug delivery devices (injectables, inhalation, combination products)
- Diagnostics and laboratory instrumentation
- Surgical and minimally invasive devices
- Complex electromechanical systems
Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:
- Concept generation, detailed design, and system architecture development
- Engineering analysis, prototyping, and technical problem solving
- Design for manufacture and transfer to production
- Working within regulated environments (e.g. ISO 13485)
- Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams (electronics, software, science)
- Engaging with clients and contributing to technical direction
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience in product development within medtech, life science, or a similarly regulated industry
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical design, analysis, and manufacturing processes
- Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or similar
- Understanding of design controls and risk management processes is beneficial
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
