Job description
BREEAM Consultant – Remote/ one day a week in East Sussex
£40-50,000 plus package
This consultancy believes sustainability professionals shouldn’t have to choose between meaningful work and flexibility.
With a structured hybrid model of four days working from home and one day in the office, they give their consultants the autonomy to deliver exceptional work while still maintaining the in-person collaboration that great projects are built on.
If you’re a Sustainability Consultant with strong experience delivering building certification projects and enjoy taking ownership of your work, this is an opportunity to join a growing specialist consultancy where your expertise will genuinely shape projects.
The Role
As a BREEAM Consultant, you will lead and manage sustainability certification projects from early design stages through to final certification. You will play a key role in ensuring sustainability principles are embedded throughout the lifecycle of each development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the lead consultant on BREEAM certification projects, integrating sustainability strategies from concept through to post-construction assessment.
- Managing the full BREEAM assessment process across a diverse portfolio of new build and refurbishment developments.
- Advising architects, design teams, and contractors on practical and cost-effective routes to achieving sustainability targets.
- Preparing high-quality pre-assessment reports, technical submissions and final certification documentation.
- Supporting clients in developing broader sustainability strategies that go beyond compliance.
- Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure sustainability objectives are successfully delivered.
About You
We’re looking for a consultant who combines technical expertise with strong communication skills and enjoys working both independently and collaboratively.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience working within a sustainability consultancy with a strong focus on BREEAM assessments.
- BREEAM Assessor accreditation (or working towards it).
- A solid understanding of the UK planning system and evolving building regulations.
- Experience producing technical sustainability reports and leading client discussions.
- The ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high standard of delivery.
Highly desirable:
- Experience undertaking Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies.
- Knowledge of SAP calculations or building energy modelling.
The Package
Our client offers a modern, flexible working environment designed to support both professional development and work-life balance.
Benefits include:
- Hybrid working: 4 days from home, 1 day in the office for collaboration.
- A competitive salary aligned with industry benchmarks and your experience.
- Full payment of professional membership fees and support for further certifications.
- Generous holiday allowance to support time away from work.
- Contributory pension scheme.
- A clear progression pathway within a growing sustainability consultancy.
