Senior / Principal Associate – Non-Contentious Construction

About the Opportunity
An established UK law firm with a strong national construction practice is looking to recruit a Senior or Principal Associate to join its non-contentious construction team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile development and infrastructure projects for a broad client base that includes major developers, contractors, investors, funders and public sector bodies.
The role offers exposure to complex projects across the real estate, infrastructure and energy sectors, with the opportunity to work alongside experienced construction specialists advising clients from project inception through to completion.
The Role
You will advise clients on a range of non-contentious construction matters, including:
Development and infrastructure projects
Construction aspects of real estate and corporate transactions
Property finance related construction matters
Process plant and engineering contracts
Procurement strategies and project structuring
Drafting and negotiating construction documentation
The team advises primarily employers and developers, though experience acting for contractors or supply chain participants would also be valuable.
There may also be opportunities to support contentious construction matters where of interest.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
6+ years’ PQE in construction law
Strong experience in non-contentious construction work
Expertise in standard construction contracts including JCT and NEC
Experience with development agreements and associated project documentation
A commercial and pragmatic approach to advising clients
Candidates with experience gained in private practice or in-house within the construction or infrastructure sector are encouraged to apply.
The Team
The construction team advises on a wide range of major construction and engineering projects across the UK.
The practice supports clients across the full lifecycle of projects, including:
Development and regeneration schemes
Infrastructure projects
Remediation and brownfield site development
Process plant and power generation projects
Complex construction disputes and adjudications
Clients include developers, contractors, consultants, public authorities, higher education institutions and funders.
The team works closely with colleagues across real estate, corporate, finance and disputes to deliver strategic, commercially focused advice.
