Job description

Our client, a leading global manufacturer of cable transit solutions, is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to join their Marine & Offshore division and drive growth across Scotland and the North of England. This is a diverse role that will involve working closely with major design and engineering firms on technical specifications, as well as engaging with owners and contractors responsible for operating and delivering projects within the relevant markets and applications.


Responsibilities

  • Identifying and targeting marine and offshore projects, focusing on key decision-makers such as owners, operators, engineers, contractors, and resellers.
  • Developing business opportunities from initial contact to securing standard specifications and client-approved lists.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with existing clients, including owners, operators, designers, and installers.
  • Attending industry events and forums to network and identify new opportunities.
  • Promoting solutions to specifying engineers (electrical, control, instrumentation, mechanical, structural) through technical presentations, site visits, installation training, and reseller promotions.
  • Driving sustainable sales growth by gaining engineering specifications and providing world-class support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Creating and executing targeted sales plans to achieve business objectives.
  • Utilising CRM system to plan and manage customer interactions and meetings.
  • Providing pre-sales technical advice and design input for bespoke product solutions.
  • Delivering accurate market information, forecasts, and product planning insights to management.


Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional with the following qualifications:


Required:

  • A university degree and/or equivalent experience. Candidates without a degree will be considered if they demonstrate sufficient industry-specific experience in a similar role.
  • Proven professional sales experience, particularly in presenting complex or technical solutions to decision-makers and specifying engineers.
  • Existing relationships within owner/operators, engineering, contracting, and design firms in the oil and gas OEM sector.
  • Knowledge of civil construction, electrical, controls, automation, and/or mechanical systems in the marine and offshore markets.
  • Strong understanding of industrial business practices and effective sales techniques, with the ability to develop and execute a structured sales and business plan.
  • Experience in business development, including structured planning and new prospect engagement.
  • Proficiency in leveraging industry news, project databases, and relationships to identify sales opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Confidence and ability to prepare and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Proven track record of managing long-term and complex sales projects to successful outcomes.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK during the workweek and internationally on occasion.
