Senior Buyer - FMCG

Rise Resourcing is looking for a Senior Buyer - FMCG

Job description

Senior Buyer – FMCG Lancashire

A long‑established FMCG wholesaler and distributor in Lancashire is looking for a commercially sharp Senior Buyer to take ownership of a key product portfolio and play a central role in shaping future growth. This is a high‑impact position where you’ll influence category direction, secure market‑leading deals and deliver a competitive, profitable range across both retail and wholesale channels. With the business continuing to expand and diversify, there’s real scope to grow the role and make a visible difference.

The Opportunity

You’ll lead the commercial performance of several product categories, combining strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery. Your remit will include:

  • Driving sales, margin and supplier income across your categories
  • Leading negotiations to secure the strongest cost prices, promotional plans and long‑term value
  • Managing pricing and ensuring accuracy and competitiveness across the range
  • Planning and executing promotional and seasonal activity
  • Identifying new products, suppliers and opportunities to strengthen the offer
  • Keeping ahead of market trends, competitor activity and customer expectations

What You’ll Bring

You’ll be an energetic, commercially minded buyer or trader with experience in a fast‑paced FMCG, retail, wholesale or foodservice environment. Ideally you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a buying, trading or commercial role
  • Proven success managing categories and delivering financial targets
  • Strong negotiation skills and the confidence to influence at all levels
  • A track record of building strong supplier relationships and driving cost efficiencies
  • The pace, resilience and commercial instinct needed to thrive in a dynamic environment

Experience in BWS is a bonus, but not essential. Strong FMCG buying capability and commercial acumen are what matter most.

What’s on Offer

You’ll receive a competitive salary (DOE) plus a comprehensive benefits package including car allowance, contributory pension, increasing holiday entitlement, staff discount and a range of additional incentives. You’ll also be joining a values‑driven, people‑focused business where ideas are encouraged and individuals are empowered to make an impact.
