Purpose of the Role
The Field Service Engineer will be based in the South-East of England, supporting customers across the South-East and Southern regions, with occasional travel across the UK. The role involves providing on-site service and technical support, including calibration, servicing, commissioning, and repair of analytical instrumentation across sectors such as power, water, pharmaceutical, and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out field service activities including commissioning, calibration, maintenance, and repair at customer sites
- Work in line with site procedures, including permit systems where required
- Prepare and follow Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Perform in-house repairs and calibrations as needed
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards and industry regulations
- Work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider team
- Provide detailed and accurate service reports
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle in good working condition
- Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate requirements for service visits
- Maintain calibration records for service equipment
- Provide technical support via phone and email
- Be flexible to travel and occasional overnight stays
Requirements
- ONC/HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or Instrumentation & Control
- 3–5 years’ experience in a service technician or instrumentation/calibration role
- Experience working with analytical instrumentation (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of water systems or industrial/process analysis (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work
- Competent in Microsoft Office
