About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Communication Support Worker (CSW) to provide high-quality support to Deaf and hard-of-hearing learners. The ideal candidate will be confident using British Sign Language (BSL), committed to inclusive education, and able to work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure learners have full access to the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and BSL (or the learner’s preferred communication method)
• Work closely with tutors to support inclusive teaching strategies
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and databases
• Assist learners with understanding verbal instructions, written materials, and classroom tasks
• Support a positive and accessible learning experience for all students

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Level 3 BSL qualification (essential)
• Experience supporting Deaf or hard-of-hearing learners
• Ability to adapt and modify learning materials to meet communication needs
• Ability to promote Deaf awareness among staff and peers
• Strong communication and organisational skills
