This opportunity supports the delivery of a first-of-a-kind, fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage, playing a key role in the development of the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
A dynamic Senior Commercial Manager is required to contribute to this major project based in Redcar and Cleveland.
What You'll Be Doing
- Responsible for the financial management of the MEH scope from inception through tendering, contract negotiation, and commercial delivery. As a key member of the project delivery team, you will lead the commercial and financial success of the project.
- The role covers a wide range of responsibilities including risk management, procurement, contract management, financial reporting, and supply chain management.
- You will typically have experience managing and developing a commercial team and be a Chartered Member of RICS, ICES, or CIOB (or working towards), acting as a mentor and role model while maintaining Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Governance
Adhere to governance requirements and maximise LEAN/digital opportunities
Commercial Management
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking
- Understand economic factors impacting the construction industry
- Knowledge of dispute resolution processes and techniques
- Apply relevant legislation and liaise with legal experts
- Prepare estimates and tender submissions
- Represent financial and contractual interests with clients
- Manage commercial relationships with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders
- Coordinate procurement, planning, estimating, and supply chain functions
- Manage and report commercial risk and opportunities
- Oversee management of disallowed costs
Commercial Administration
- Provide input into buildability and value engineering reviews
- Feed commercial data into planning and estimating
- Maximise digital opportunities
- Review tenders and cost data
- Prepare and manage target costs
- Coordinate the commercial team to address programme issues
- Oversee earned value management
- Prepare and review monthly CVR and commercial reports
- Report on commercial performance
- Share commercial insights with planning, estimating, marketing, and sales
Procurement
- Define supply chain requirements and advise on contract strategies
- Develop and manage procurement plans
Who We're Looking For
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
- Membership of RICS, ICES, or CIOB (or working towards)
- CSCS Card (Professionally Qualified Person)
